Q1 2021 has seen the global shipments of virtual reality (VR) headsets grow by 52.4% year over year according to new data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Augmented and Virtual Reality Headset Tracker.

The growth trend is expected to continue with IDC forecasts indicating that VR headset shipments will grow by more than 25% year over year in 2021.

There could be some impact to supply due to worldwide component shortages although the long-term outlook remains quite strong as global shipments are forecast to grow to 28.6 million in 2025 with a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 41.4%.

DPVR has continued to perform well in China with growth of more than 100% year on year with our headsets getting used in a mix of commercial and consumer applications around the world. Countries like Japan, Korea, USA and the UK have all delivered great growth results in recent months.

The use of VR headsets for training, school education and cutting edge simulation hardware is fuelling this growth with our P1 and E3 models being used for various commercial applications. The ability for our design and development team to customise headset hardware or software to suit the particular requirements of 3rd parties is making DPVR an attractive VR headset manufacturer to work with.

Companies like Veative, Yeltic and Vivid Vision or even Rohto Pharmaceutical continue to use DPVR VR headsets in their business environments.
