Consumer level virtual reality headsets were first released by video game companies back in the 1990’s. Selected models in the DPVR range are bundled with NOLO hardware to provide positional tracking. Designed to bring ‘room scale’ positional tracking and motion controls to VR headsets it takes virtual reality to completely new levels.
DOF is depth of freedom and in the case of virtual reality headsets it relates to how many different axes are being tracked. There are three main axes (translational), and three secondary axes (rotational).
A 3 DOF VR experience will limit you to one set, rotational or translational, but not both. A 6 DOF experience allows for both.
